Technology support

The module you are about to start is a 12 week, blended learning module.  Every other week, you will meet your learning group and your facilitator face to face, for 3 hours.  The rest of the time, you will be learning online.

This website is the public site for the Dementia Elevator project.  As DCU students, you will also have access to DCU Loop, which is where your online learning will take place. DCU Loop is our Digital Learning Environment.

Your module’s title is Personal-Centered Dementia Care, code NS466.  It is divided into six topics, each has an online element and a face to face element.  On DCU Loop, for each topic, you will find a lecture, some lecture notes, and a series of activities which you will be required to do – a check list box will allow you to check your progress.  These activities will follow the same pattern for every topic: you will be able to download and read some documents, you will follow some links to websites of interest, and you will participate in discussions and reflections on the online forum.

Access to DCU website:

Your student portal page is your first stop for information. You can access your portal page using the access details distributed to all students when they have registered:  your user name and your password (NOTE:  Passwords are case sensitive)

Your portal page will give you access to the Loop, DCU’s digital learning environment.  You will also lead you to your student email, which is powered by Google Apps.  For more information on your email, please follow this link:  http://dcu.ie/iss/dcuapps/FAQ/gmail.shtml

You may need to re-enter your username and password to enter the Loop, where you will find your course on Moodle.

If you have any problems, in terms of technology or in terms of study skills, you will find a Help section in your online module on Loop, where we will post videos, documents, and where you will be able to ask specific questions in a Help forum.  We will endeavour to reply as quickly as possible.
