I am a community general nurse for the last twenty years. I work as part of a primary care team. I am particularly interested in the challenges of providing appropriate services/care for clients with early dementia. I see this as the biggest challenge for the future especially with an aging population. It was this interest that led me to complete Dementia Champion course.

Genio has developed The Information Hub in response to an identified need for a convenient way of finding and sharing useful resources which has emerged across the three areas we currently work in. While information on Genio developments will always be shared on the Genio website, Genio is providing The Information Hub as a standalone online service which is dedicated solely to displaying a directory of resources in a way which is easy for people to understand and navigate.
Nurse Specialist in Dementia Care, Clinical Nurse Manager 2
3 year fixed term contract in Connolly Hospital.
The Nurse Specialist in Dementia Care will provide nursing expertise, education and management service to patients with dementia, their carers and nursing staff, in the promotion of a patient centred approach to patients and their families.
The Nurse Specialist will have a key role in developing dementia care within the context of an evolving service and will work as part of multi-disciplinary team delivering a coordinated approach to patient with dementia care. This person will be responsible for managing both inpatient and outpatient case-load to ensure safe provision of care at all levels.
Clinical Focus-Direct and Indirect Care responsibilities will include:
- Develop and implement Patients with Dementia Project activities: Integration, Communication, Education and Environment
- Integration: drive the implementation of project aims, be a primary point of clinical contact Dementia Outreach-Inreach Team (DO-IT)
- Communication: introduce ‘Dementia Care Bundle (DCB)
The successful candidate must be registered in the Relevant Division of the Registrar of Nurses kept by An Bord Altranais or be entitled to be so registered.
